I almost missed Leap Day! Somehow the fact that today was February 29th escaped me. What was I thinking?
I almost squandered an extra day away as if I had extra days to spare. I should celebrate it... But how would you go about celebrating Leap Day? I suppose you could (every four years?) make a giant leap to do something that's a stretch for you, and grow by leaps and bounds. Or have a leap of faith and take leap in the dark. You could spend the day not leaping to conclusions.
I spent yesterday blogging. [As you can see below.] Can you imagine? I spent the day exploring other blogs, seeking out new blogging tools, and on the phone with Andy Wibbels http://andymatic.com/ and other bloggers. [Andy is pretty cool, check him out.] I'm just fascinated by the breadth of what's out there. Political blogs. Alter Egos. Sisterhood. Journals. News. Technology.
So I began thinking. Why blog? What's the seductive appeal? It's certainly addictive! It's a window to the lives and thoughts of others, as well as a welcome mat of sorts for others to join you in your life and thoughts (depending on the nature of your blog of course). It's faster than updating my website, and has more possibility that a mass email. It's a way of "talking out loud" about the thoughts in my head and by visiting the blogs of others and commenting, entering in a global conversation. How seductive is that!! I could go on, but I don't want to spend ALL of today blogging too.
Hey...if blogging is taking a leap into the global conversation, maybe I didn't miss celebrating Leap Day after all. Maybe I'll spend today blogging as well. Great idea!
If nothing else, blogging gives the creator an expressive outlet to give back to the world, send out into the universe what we process. Which is always more than what we really need. It is a way of giving, a way to attract abundance, a way to fulfill and renew our internal and external wealth.
