Anything worth doing, is worth doing with someone else!
I've had the wonderful opportunity in the past year to collaborate and work with some truly amazing people. Most of the time we work together virtually, via IM, email and the occasional phone call. But I've begun the practice in the last few months of trying to work face to face at least once a week.
Now if you work in an office or work with your customers or clients face to face, at this point you are "thinking what's the big deal? I do that daily." The fact is, that as a coach, I never even meet my clients since they are all over the world, and we work via phone. And my colleagues at Coachville.com all work virtually as well. But I digress from my main point.
I'm a very productive, quite creative person. But I've noticed an interesting dynamic lately. Working face to face with someone creates a different energy. Yes, it's partially about the bouncing back and forth of ideas, the different points of view. But beyond that, there really is a palpable energy that eminates from two or three creative minds working together to create. Perhaps it comes from the joy of sharing the accomplishment with someone.
And it applies to the rest of life too. A funny movie is so much funnier when watched with someone, or a whole movie theater of people. Listening to music on your IPod is great, hearing it in concert with a concert hall full of folks is awesome. Meals are better with people than alone. The list goes on.
I can only think of two things that are better done alone. Shopping is one. Reading is the other. But there are even exceptions to those.
Anyone want to blog with me?
